I don't have a linear career. I have a habit: I notice a problem, research it properly, design something that could solve it, build it, and then find out whether I was right.
That habit has produced businesses, software, a basketball brand, client websites, and a fair number of ideas I killed once the research came back. All of it is on this site with its real status attached.

The builder
Ideas are cheap. I'm interested in what survives contact with reality.
I start ventures. Not as a hobby and not as a plan to write later — I take an idea, research whether it holds up, design the model, and build the thing.
The most useful skill I have developed is killing my own ideas early. The UK basketball plan opened with a fundraising number that would never have happened; the fantasy token concept sat on top of a live criminal prosecution in its own category. Both were better projects after I found that out.
The operator
A business is a set of processes that survive the founder having a bad week.
Before selling anything through Show Up Local I built the whole delivery system: offer, pricing, intake, audit methodology, fulfilment SOP, onboarding, reporting and the outreach script. Selling something you cannot deliver consistently is the expensive mistake.
The same instinct shows up everywhere. AI Minted's governance layer was written before its first agent. A Callout Company's honest blocker list was written at the same time as the build, not afterwards when it would have been tempting to soften it.
The technologist
I build with AI daily — on real schemas, real tests and real deployments.
I work with AI coding tools on production-shaped problems rather than tutorials. That has meant a tested TypeScript business-logic core with a 26-table schema, browser computer vision using pretrained detection and hand-tracking models, a WebGL game rebuild, and automation wired into live spreadsheets and forms.
I am not an engineer with a decade behind me and I do not present myself as one. What I can do is take a problem to a working, verified system — and be precise about which parts are real and which parts are demo drivers behind an interface.
The community builder
Basketball is the part of this that isn't a business decision.
Play On The Court is UK grassroots basketball development — courts, community, a schools programme, and a pipeline of products designed around the actual bottlenecks: not enough courts, not enough coaches, and not enough qualified officials for the game to scale.
The design constraints here are different from anywhere else in my work. Children use courts, so the location model is check-in based by default and the youth product is a structurally separate build rather than a setting. That is an architecture decision, not a policy paragraph.
The practical side
Site work is not a footnote — it is where a lot of the business instinct comes from.
Alongside the digital work I hold a CSCS Green Labourer Card (Level 1) and Forward Tipping Dumper training, plus site safety and plant operations awareness. It is a real, separate career pathway, not a line added to look well rounded.
It also does something useful for the rest of my work. Most of the businesses I am drawn to — trades, waste, plant, emergency callouts — are ones where I have stood on the site rather than only read the market report. Knowing how a job actually runs changes the product you design for it.
Currently working toward further plant tickets: articulated dump truck, 360 excavator, ride-on roller, telehandler, traffic marshal, and slinging and signalling.

Play On The Court
Founder — UK grassroots basketball development
- Built the brand, domain, assets and a six-week schools basketball programme plan.
- Researched the UK grassroots landscape and the NBA Europe window, then rewrote my own plan when the original fundraising premise did not survive that research.
- Built connections with local sporting and educational organisations, including Dudley College and West Bromwich Albion Basketball Club.
- Runs as a pipeline of connected concepts sharing one set of foundations rather than as separate ventures.

- Built the complete operating system before selling: offer, pricing, intake, audit methodology, fulfilment SOP, onboarding, reporting and outreach scripts.
- Connected the public site's enquiry form directly into an eleven-tab operations workspace, verified with a real submission.
- Produced real websites for real West Midlands businesses through it.

Local business web builds
Plumbing and drainage, barbering, gardening and landscaping
- Built from each business's own photography and own words, with no invented credentials or borrowed stock imagery.
- Confirmed a live callback form writing real submissions into the owner's own sheet, end to end.
- Refined the pattern each time: first-person voice, evidence-only claims, and unconfirmed details held out of the live page.

A Callout Company
Founder — emergency trade callout platform
- Wrote the business blueprint — pricing, commission, dispatch, triage — then built the platform against it.
- Shipped a tested business-logic core, a 26-table schema and a 41-route application, verified end to end against seeded data.
- Documented the honest blockers, including that legal review has to happen before any real money moves.

- Designed and documented the governance, authority, financial and agent-lifecycle layers before building any agent.
- Phase 0 complete; Phase 1 in progress with the first implementation gate reached.
